Cyndi Barnes, Mosaic Artist
I come from a very creative and artistic family. My aunts,
uncles, cousins and little sister all have so much talent.
As a result, I have been creating all kinds of art my
entire life.
I've been very lucky to be able to explore different fields
of art from a very young age. I started in acrylic and
then fell in love with pen and inks, of several varieties.
Growing up in Chicago, I was fortunate enough to take
classes at the Art Institute, and this planted the seeds
for life.
I did not pursue art as a career, getting into landscaping
which provided a paycheck and some design abilities.
After moving to Dallas in 1984, I took a variety of
landscaping courses at Richland College and worked in
that field for several years. But longing to be a full time
artist was still a goal.

Now with my kids almost grown, it's my turn to create full time. I began working in mosaics
about 5 years ago at the Creative Arts Center in Dallas, and have opened my own studio in
Dallas. With the loving support of my husband, great kids, and many wonderful friends by
my side, I am working in my passion full time now.
